Nancy Ann Brackett

January 1, 1930 — August 28, 2021

At the age of 91, Nancy went to be with her lord and savior, Jesus Christ. She was born in the midst of the Depression to James Henry Hunt and Dorothy Grace Klassen in Raymond, Washington and was the oldest of six children. Nancy graduated from Willipa Valley High School in 1948. She briefly attended nursing school in Seattle before marrying a former student from her high school, Mac Brackett. They purchased a small home in the Riverdale area of Raymond, Washington where they raised their two daughters, Kathy and Polly. After a few years, they moved to southern California where they both graduated from LaVerne University. Both Nancy and Mac became teachers and enjoyed many years working with students in southern and later norther California. Upon retirement, Nancy and Mac returned to Raymond where they built a home on the land they had purchased from her parents. This piece of property was part of the original Donation Land Grant Claim that had been proved up by her grandparents in 1896. They spent many happy years there improving the land and entertaining friends. Nancy belonged to the Willipa Harbor Quilters, a local garden club, and a women’s research group. Both she and Mac volunteered their time to build a habitat for humanity house and were active in the Willipa United Methodist Church. Nancy is survived by four brothers, James Hunt, Dick Hunt, William Hunt and his wife Doreen, and Ted Hunt and his wife Linda. She is also survived by daughters Kathy Stevens and husband Stan Stevens, and Polly Gaddy and husband Alvin Gaddy. Her grandchildren include Brandon Mason, Lindsay Lefaive, and SmittyVargas. Great granddaughters include Mackenzie Avila, Clarissa Avila, Lindsay Mason, and Carabella Lefaive. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
