Marlene Grace Maggard, a longtime Raymond resident died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Hoquiam, Washington; she was 88. She was born in Hackers Valley, West Virginia March 19, 1925 to Risty Reed and Esta L. (Collins) Pugh. She was raised in Webster Springs, West Virginia. Marlene married Dennis Maggard, Sr. April 14, 1944 in Abbington, Virginia; together they moved to Raymond in 1951. Dennis preceded her in death in 2003. Marlene enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking, gardening, the outdoors and spending time with her family. She is survived by three sons, Dennis Maggard, Jr. of Raymond, Gary Maggard of Shelton, WA and Keeton Maggard, also of Raymond; three daughters, Sandra Harris of Des Moines, WA, Marina Stone of Hoquiam, WA, and Joyce Shaddy of Sand Hollow, ID, and a sister Rosie Scott; 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren. The last few years she was cared for by her daughter Marina, granddaughters Risty and Genie, great granddaughter Christal and family, and a special friend Jean Watson. Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, six brothers, two sisters and a great great grandson. At her request there will be no memorial services. Arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
