Louis H. (Butch) Wiss passed away at his home in Nemah, Washington Friday, December 8, 2017. Butch was born December 20, 1944 in Raymond, WA to Louie G. Wiss and Edna Rose Nissell Wiss. Butch was raised in the Willapa Valley until 1960, then moved to Nemah and attended Naselle High school, graduating in 1963. Butch was a fisherman most of his life, he had fished dungeness crab for over 40 years out of the Willapa. He gillnetted salmon on the Willapa, Columbia and also in Bristol Bay, Alaska for 20 years every summer. Butch truly loved hunting and steelhead fishing in the Nemah Valley. He had thousands of stories about his adventures on the Nemah River, most of them were true. Butch is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharlot (Sherry) Pine Wiss, his daughter Roseann Marshall of Auburn, WA and his sons, Kevin Wiss, USMC Japan, Louis Wiss Jr., Everett, WA, Jason (Jo) Wiss of Vancouver, WA, Darren Wiss of Kettle Falls, WA, and Matt (Lisa) Wiss of Rochester, WA. The most important thing to Butch was his grandchildren, he was very proud of them; Calvin, Tristian, Kevin Jr. & Emily Wiss; Taylor, Isabella & Amelia Wiss; Payton Marshall; Emma, Haden & Sophie Wiss; Kai Wiss. A celebration of life will be held December 16, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Nemah Community Hall. Please join us to reflect upon a man that will truly be missed. Cremation arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
