Jack Wilbur Jasper, a Westport resident, died Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Willapa Harbor Health & Rehab Center in Raymond; he was 92. Jack was born July 23, 1924 in Aberdeen, WA to John M. and Clara (VanLoo) Jasper. He was raised in Aberdeen and a 1943 graduate of Weatherwax High School. Jack was enlisted in the United States Marines in 1943 and “out alive†in 1945. He went on to attend University of Washington graduating in 1951. He worked 25 ½ years as a civil engineer for the State Highway Dept. out of Olympia, Seattle and Aberdeen until his retirement. He was a member of the Aberdeen VFW Club and later in life moved to Westport where he was a local member there as well. Jack loved salmon fishing on any day. He also enjoyed hunting elk for over 50 years. Jack leaves behind his wife of 70 years Roba (Carter) Jasper; as well as a son Bruce Jasper of Olympia, a daughter Debbie Spiller also of Olympia; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and a sister Patricia Lonac of Aberdeen. Jack’s close friend, Mike Halburg, also survives him. He was preceded in death by brothers Irvin and Ronald Jasper as well as sisters Lydwina Tromp, Wilma McCoullough and Dolores Lauzon. Memorials in Jack’s memory may be made to the Westport VFW 211 Pacific Ave E, Westport, WA 98595 or the Westport Fire Department 170 W Spokane Ave, Westport, WA 98595 Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. February 4, 2017 at the Westport VFW where full military honors will be accorded. Cremation arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
