Grace Betrozoff

July 20, 1935 — February 24, 2025

Raymond

Grace’s earthly life came to an end on Monday, February 24th, 2025. She was born on July 20, 1935, in her grandmother’s farmhouse in rural Arlington, Washington, to her parents Nels and Ama Bucklin.

The family moved from Snohomish, Washington, to Raymond in 1948 when she was in the eighth grade. She graduated from Raymond High School in 1953.

On February 27,1954, she and Stanley “Stack” Betrozoff were married. They became the parents of two children, daughter Janice Janeen and son, Stanley Jr. better known as “Butch”.

Grace had many jobs in the retail trade. Her first job was at The Barge In Cafe in South Bend, Washington shortly after graduation. After her children were born, she worked at Hasu Grocery, Barnum’s Grocery, Riverdale Grocery and Sagen’s Pharmacy.

In 1965 she and the children were baptized in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, now known as St. Lawrence Church. The parishioners became like a second family to her.

Over the years she became the second-grade teacher in the CCD program. After becoming a widow, she became a Sacristan, Eucharistic Minister to the home bound, and a member of the Outreach Committee for many years. Grace took joy in her church service with dedication to whatever was needed to keep God’s house prepared and clean.

Grace is survived by her children Janice (John) Halver IV, of Brush Prairie WA and Stanley Betrozoff Jr, “Butch”, of Raymond. Also surviving are her brother, Don Bucklin of Florida, grandchildren Jacquelyn Metcalfe of Tumwater, John (Wendy) Halver V, of Vancouver, Grace (Nathan) Rice of Vancouver and Amanda Halver of Portland, Oregon, and two great grandchildren, Rebecca Rae Halver and John E. Halver VI of Vancouver. Her niece Lori Wilson Rydberg of Bozeman, Montana is also a survivor.

Her husband, “Stack” passed away on April 14, 2010, while on a fishing trip to the Columbia River. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Nels and Ama Bucklin, her sister, Judy Hunt Wilson, nieces Toni Hunt Gonzales, Jackie Wilson Miller and nephew Terry Hunt.

Grace’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 8th , 2025, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Raymond, WA, at 11:00 AM. A reception will immediately follow in the parish hall. Grace will be laid to rest at Fern Hill Cemetery.
