David Bruce Vetter

Dave Bruce Vetter, 67, passed away on February 4, 2025, in Raymond, Washington. Born on March 30, 1957, in Raymond, he remained deeply connected to his hometown throughout his life.

Dave’s journey in education was one of dedication and passion. He earned an Associate of Arts in Education from Grays Harbor College before obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Washington State University. He later pursued a Master’s in Education Administration from City University Seattle. His career path was diverse—he worked as a parts salesman, business owner, and small engine mechanic before discovering his true calling as an educator. Once he stepped into the classroom, he never looked back. He taught various elementary and middle school grades before becoming the principal at his alma mater, Raymond High School. One of his proudest achievements of his career was leading Raymond Jr/Sr High to be recognized as a School of Distinction for five consecutive years while also being the runner up for the Washington State Principal of the year award two of those years.

Beyond his professional life, Dave had a deep love for cooking for others, old cars, racing, football, and all his pets. His enthusiasm for sports extended beyond spectating—he actively coached children’s soccer, wrestling, and track and field. His commitment to his community was evident through his service on the Pacific County Fair and Alder House Boards and as both a fire district, and county hospital commissioner.

Dave often reminisced about his idyllic childhood—riding horses, working in his grandmother’s garden, attending 4-H camp, and showing animals at the fair. These experiences shaped him into the man he became ever the supporter of the underdog, hardworking, community-minded, and devoted to fostering growth in others. He is survived by his Wife Robin, children: sons Derek (Kyla) and Joe (Bethany), daughter Lindsey (Aaron), and stepsons Timothy and Zachary (Kristen). He also leaves behind a cherished legacy through his grandchildren: granddaughters Addy, Anna, Ava, Charlotte, Elly, Madelyn, and Nora; grandsons Bodi, Gideon, Mason, Owen, Jeremy, John, and Joey. His siblings Dick, Thom, Ken, Dot, Debbie, Gary, Nancy, and Mark also mourn his passing.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Marion; brother Gerald; grandson Grayson; and granddaughter Emme.

His impact on family members, students, colleagues, and friends will not be forgotten.May his memory bring comfort to those who were impacted by him.
